Good Dog Deed for the Day

Good Dog Deed for the Day

Buddy found an easy way for everyone to help donate a service dog to a veteran recovering from post-traumatic stress syndrome. Simply go to the “dog bless you” page on Facebook and “like” it. Every 5,000 likes gets one dog and one vet paired up.

Bark in the Ball Park

When Buddy found this piece about the L.A. Dodgers hosting a pet-friendly game day, he knew he had to post it in hopes that perhaps a Steinbrenner brother will take to the idea too. Buddy loves his Yankees! http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ycn-8534267

Lions, Tigers and Dogs—Oh My!

Lions, Tigers and Dogs—Oh My!

Buddy thought Ligers—the offspring of a Lion and a Tiger—were the stuff of Napolean Dynamite, but it turns out that they are real. Two Liger cubs were born to a tiger mom—not the Amy Chua variety—and lion dad just last week. When the mom decided to stop feeding the cubs, a dog stepped in to [...]

The Truth About Cats and Dogs: Water Edition

The Truth About Cats and Dogs: Water Edition

Last year scientists and cat owners made a lot of noise at how cats drink water by using their tongues as a conveyor belt. Everyone was like “look how sophisticated cats are.” Well, turns out dogs drink the same way, only there is a bit more splash due to size. So all you felines out [...]

Mail Man’s Revenge

Mail Man’s Revenge

If you thought the whole dog trying to bite a letter carrier was an old TV and movie joke, it’s not. One mail carrier in San Diego posted a blog entry featuring photos of all the dogs that have tried to bite and jump on him during his daily rounds. Buddy especially likes the photo [...]

Dog Paddling

Maybe it’s all the rain in New York City this week, but Buddy’s been thinking about dogs and water. He sniffed out this article on how to introduce your dog to the ocean and pool this summer. Just remember, dogs need SPF too! http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/homegarden/2015049896_petsswim16.html

Labor of Love

Labor of Love

Buddy just heard this on the Hollywood grape vine: Mariah Carey had her four dogs in the hospital with her when she gave birth to her twins. Jack Russell terriers JJ, Cha-Cha, Dolomite and Jackie Lambchop were on hand to welcome little Moroccan and Monroe Cannon into the world. Strange. But true. http://www.sheknows.com/entertainment/articles/830927/mariah-careys-dogs-attended-roc-and-roes-birth

Toy of the Week

Toy of the Week

Being a modern dog means Buddy has digital toys too. He’s loving the Dog Translator App for iPhone right now. He barks, his owner Iain records, and then the app translates the bark into English. The fact that most of the translations tend to be requests for treats, pats and belly rubs does makes the [...]

Workout Like A Dog

Workout Like A Dog

Buddy found this list of top 10 activities to do with your dog to build fitness. For some reason, the piece is part of a “men’s health” column, but Buddy is pretty sure woman can handle the workout options. At least, the last time he checked, women could throw Frisbees too! http://www.foxnews.com/health/2011/05/10/10-man-dog-workouts
